PopKey, world’s first GIF keyboard coming to iOS 8

Apple introduced two new iPhones, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on September 9 and it will be shipping with iOS 8 out of the box starting September 19. iOS 8 will be coming to other compatible iOS devices on September 17 itself.

iOS 8 will for the first time allow third-party keyboards on iOS devices and it sure will be a game changing move by Apple. We have already seen SwiftKey, popular Android Keyboard will be making its way to iOS on September 17 itself with the launch of iOS 8.

Now, we are looking at another developer whose keyboard has the potential to change the way we send messages in iOS for ever. We are talking about PopKey, which is the world’s first animated GIF keyboard. It will allow users to replace their existing keyboard with an emoji-style keyboard which contains animated GIFs only.

PopKey will let the users search for GIFs by keyword and copy paste them into messages without ever leaving a conversation window. The innovative keyboard app will feature thousands of GIFs but users can also upload from their own collection, if they want.

The PopKey keyboard will be available on iPhone keyboard’s ‘International’ globe key where other language keyboards as well as ‘Emoji keyboard’ are available. Unlike SwiftKey, PopKey won’t be coming out on launch day and there’s no mention on when it will be available to the consumers. Although, you can sign up on the developer’s website for notification regarding its availability.
