Philips S309 has been launched in India. It is a low-budget smartphone from the company. Check out the specifications of the device.

Philips S309 Specifications

The Philips S309 features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) WVGA TFT display which is powered by 1 GHz dual-core processor. It has 512 MB of RAM and comes with 4 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box but we hope it gets updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop soon.

The S309 comes with a 5 megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash. On the front, there is a 0.3 megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 10.8 mm thick and weighs 126.77 grams. It supports Dual SIM, has a 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio.

The Philips S309 includes 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS/a-GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 1,600 mAh battery under the hood. It is available in Black and Red colour variants and has been priced at Rs 4,999 in India.

Philips has partnered with Redington to distribute the cellphones across the country. Redington is one of the largest distributors in India and even Xiaomi has partnered with them to sell their smartphone offline. Philips has also launched another mid-range smartphone  – Philips Xenium I908. It comes with a 5-inch Full HD display with decent specs.

On this launch, S.S. Bassi, Philips country manager for SAARC, Sangfei Mobility said,

“Identifying the dearth in the industry for phones with high-end performance capabilities, we have introduced the I908 with powerful features across every aspect of the phone. Packed with Philips’ trademark Xenium technology, the phone offers excellent battery life and stand by time for its consumers. It is ideal for consumers looking for a smooth and reliable smartphone experience. The S309 on the other hand is the ideal phone for users looking for a budget smartphone with key features and reliable performance.”
