PHICOMM all set to enter India on June 3 with Passion P660 smartphone

PHICOMM, a Shanghai based smartphone manufacturer was set to enter India in June. Today, we can confirm that the latest Chinese company will set its foot in the country on June 3.


Today, we have received the media invite of PHICOMM’s first smartphone launch in India. As the invite reads, “Phicomm’s 1st LTE smartphone premiere in Delhi – Passion 660.” The company will launch a 4G LTE based smartphone to kickstart its campaign in India.

PHICOMM plans to manufacture products in India within three to four years’ time to comply with the ‘Make in India’ policy. The company will also set up research and development unit along with a local data centre. The Indian R&D centre will also come up by the end of 2015. The company will spend a considerable amount in marketing the brand in India. They have a budget of CNY 100 million (Rs 1,026 crore) for this year, which will be mostly used for India.

PHICOMM Passion 660 Specifications

The PHICOMM Passion 660 features a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8939 64-bit processor along with Adreno 405 GPU. It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory which is not expandable via microSD card. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

It is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. On the front, a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone weighs 132 grams and is 8.9 mm thick. It supports Dual SIM (nano + micro).

On the connectivity front, the Passion 660 has 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. It packs in a 2,300 mAh battery under the hood.

The smartphone is priced at 149 Euros (US $165 / INR Rs 10,500 approximately) and we are expecting it to be priced around Rs 12,000-13,000 in India. PHICOMM will take the usual route of selling their products exclusively via online portals, maybe via flash sale as well. We will have more information in the upcoming days on the exclusive online partner and exact pricing. Two news players – Nubia and Meizu has recently started their operations in India.
