Pebble helped in popularizing two big concepts in gadgets: Kickstarter and the Smart Watch. The company has launched its Pebble Time smartwatch, again exclusively on Kickstarter. The new Pebble Smartwatch comes with a color e-ink display, a new slimmer design and a new software. It even has a microphone that lets you send voice replies for notification on Android apps including SMS, Hangouts, Gmail, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and hundreds more. For iOS users, voice replies currently work only for Gmail notifications, but it will be available for more apps in future.
Speaking of the newly launched smartwatch, it is just 9.5mm thick and it fits comfortably on wrist due to its design. The new Pebble watch is toned down by 20% than the actual Pebble which was announced back in 2012. The watch retains the number of Physical Button present in the previous gen and this year it also has 4 buttons. It has a new timeline interface that lists notifications, news, reminders and event in chronological order.
The display on the TIME is daylight readable and has a Gorilla Glass protection on top to resist minor scratches. The device gives a backup of upto 7 days over battery and is water resistant too.
Good news for customers is that the watch will go on sale from May 2015. Kickstarter would sell the Pebble at $159 but it will be available at retail shops at $199. Pebble TIME also comes with Black watch case and silicone band with black PVD stainless steel bezel, White watch case and silicone band with silver PVD stainless steel bezel and Red watch case and silicone band with black PVD stainless steel bezel.
