OnePlus teased an “You’re invited” on April 20 post on their social media, which was speculated by many as the arrival of the OnePlus 2 or a new OnePlus One Lite. However, the OnePlus One will is now going on an ‘open sale’ forever.
You won’t require any invitation anymore to purchase the OnePlus One. Both the 16GB and 64GB variant of OnePlus One is finally going on an open sale globally. The announcement is made to clear out the remaining stocks before the arrival of OnePlus 2 and other devices from the company.
On this occasion, Carl Pei, Co-founder and Head of Global, OnePlus, said
“By rigorously testing and improving our logistical structure over the last one year, we are far more confident that our processes have matured enough for us to handle the increased production and after-sales support that comes along with opening up sales. It’s what we’ve been working towards, and now we’re ready.”
“This current shift from an invite system to a non-invite system is a big step, one from which we will learn a great deal before the OnePlus 2 launch, with invites, in the third quarter of this year.”
OnePlus is offering 75% discount on OnePlus flip covers and premium screen protectors just for 24 hours. You can also purchase Bamboo StyleSwap covers without an invite till stocks last. These offers are only valid in USA, Canada, the European Union, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In India, there will be a flat 50% off on any one of the below accessories, along with the purchase of the OnePlus One from Amazon India until April 23, 2015.
OnePlus is not completely doing away with the ‘Invite’ system. When the company launches the OnePlus 2 in the third quarter of 2015, it will be sold via ‘invite only’ initially.
