OnePlus, the Chinese company known for their flagship killer “OnePlus One” is eyeing the Indian market for the past few months. Earlier, the company had announced the appointment of Vikas Agarwal as their General Manager of Indian operations. Today, we came across a teaser which suggests OnePlus One would be sold exclusively via Amazon India.
We already know OnePlus would sell their smartphone through India specific ‘Invites’ and are looking to start their operation in December. The company also announced it would be providing customer support and warranty to existing Indian customers. An Indian consumer who bought the global version of OnePlus One from their official site, will be provided service for their devices.
There were talks about OnePlus partnering with an e-commerce website to sell the smartphone in India but Amazon India surprised us with a teaser today. The teaser states the following:
Focusing on the product doesn’t make the product better. Focusing on the experience makes it better. It drives perfection. Too often this school of thought gets swept away and disappears with the status quo. We want to set the bar higher for you.
As far as we understood, Amazon India and OnePlus took a complete dig at Xiaomi and Flipkart for the whole frustrated flash sale experience, the consumers has to go through every Tuesday while purchasing their smartphones. Amazon India promises to make the experience of purchasing a OnePlus One far better and is looking forward to set the benchmark in this department.
The OnePlus One will go on sale anytime next month (December, 2014) exclusively on Amazon India and will be sold via “Indian Specific Invites” which will be priced below Rs 25,000. We do not see Amazon India selling the smartphone directly without any invite system in the near future as they are struggling to cope up with the demand all over the world and do not have sufficient inventory.
All we can say is Indian smartphone market will witness the arrival of yet another Chinese smartphone manufacturer who are known to provide ‘quality products at affordable price’, which will also ensure the Indian smartphone consumers are in for a good show.
