OnePlus had recently announced the Loop VR headset, which the company will be offering for free to watch the VR launch of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 3. OnePlus has now released the Loop VR app for Android. Upon installing the app on your Android smartphone, you’ll find a timer that will end on June 14, which confirms the VR launch date of the upcoming OnePlus 3.
Also, OnePlus has scheduled a separate event in China at 10 AM on June 15 and has also confirmed that the smartphone would go on sale in the country starting from June 16, 2016. Finally, the company has also ditched the infamous ‘invite’ system. “In addition, invites are gone forever from future OnePlus product launches,” the company said in a recent blog post.
The OnePlus Loop VR Headset (30,000 units) was available for free via the OnePlus website (including shipping). For Indian consumers, the VR headset went on flash sale (app only) via Amazon India at Re. 1 (with additional shipping cost) on June 3 and will also be available on June 7. OnePlus 3 Rumoured Specifications
The OnePlus 3 will feature a 5.2 or 5.5 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display. It will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It will come with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB of internal memory / 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, which might be expandable with the inclusion of Hybrid Dual SIM slot. The device will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with Oxygen OS on top of it.
The smartphone will rock a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). It can shoot 4K videos as well. On the front, there will be a 8 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It will support Dual SIM (hybrid likely) and come with a 3.5 mm audio jack. It will pack in a fingerprint sensor on the Home Button, like the OnePlus 2. It will also retain the alert slider button to switch between No Notifications, Priority Notifications and All Notifications.
The device will include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz dual band), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C as connectivity options. It will come with a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood, which will either support OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge or Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The OnePlus 3 is rumoured to be priced at CNY 1999 (US $307 / INR Rs 20,462 approximately) for the 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM model whereas the 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM combination will supposedly be priced at CNY 2499 (US $384 / INR Rs 25,580 approximately).
