OnePlus 2 goes on sale at 4pm on Amazon India today but you need an invite

OnePlus 2 was officially announced on July 28 in India and the device was scheduled to enter the country in the first launch wave, starting from August 11. India becomes one of the first markets to get the device and it goes on sale today at 4pm, exclusively on Amazon.

The wait is over, the ‘flagship killer of 2016’ is finally here. The official sale begins at 4pm in India today, exclusively on Amazon. However, can you purchase it at 4pm? If and only if, you have an invite. OnePlus has received more than 3 million registrations till date but as we know ‘the registration numbers do not mean anything‘.

Coming to India, the first batch of invites will start rolling out today. However, an ordinary consumer looking forward to buy it, cannot get their hands on it in the first month, if you do not have an influential friend! OnePlus has decided to follow two principles for the first month to distribute the invites.

  • Early and most fervent supporters will be prioritized
  • An option for everyone

Basically, fans who have registered for the pop-up stores and fan meets, early forum members, early purchasers and the most active OnePlus One invite evangelists will get the invites now. This i the way of showing gratitude towards their fans. Fair enough!

However, OnePlus has not forgotten ‘everyone else’. There will be other ways to claim the invites like participating in contests or other promotions. The company promises that ‘you will receive the invites quickly.’

For more information on how to claim the ‘invite’ on Amazon India, if you get one, then check out the blog post by OnePlus on ‘How to Claim an Invite‘.

As announced earlier, the OnePlus 2 with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB storage will be available in India for Rs 24,999. The model with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage is also expected but not initially. It will cost Rs 22,999.
