Nextbit Robin, a “cloud first” Android smartphone was supposed to be launched in India by the end of April but the company did not get approval from BIS in time and hence it is delayed. However, today the company has announced that it has received the regulatory approval from the Indian government and will start shipping the units backed by Kickstarter campaigners from next week. Actual India launch date has not be announced yet but it is expected by the end of this month.

Nextbit Robin Specifications
The Nextbit Robin features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display that is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor along with Adreno 418 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory along with another 100 GB of cloud storage. The device runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.
Since it is a “cloud first” phone, it will allow the users to quickly upload apps, photos and other contents. If you do not use certain apps and photos, it will automatically get cleared. An app that has been offloaded from the phone will show a grayed-icon on the phone. The basic idea of Nextbit is that users using Robin should never run out off space. The smartphone will automatically backup data when connected to a WiFi network.
The Robin comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with phase detection and dual-tone LED flash. It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is 7 mm thick and comes with a 3.5mm audio jack. It has the latest USB Type C port, comes with a fingerprint scanner and dual front-facing stereo speakers as well.
The Robin includes 4G LTE (Cat 4), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,680 mAh battery under the hood with quick charging feature.
We will know the Indian pricing of the Nextbit Robin very soon when it launches in the country, but if we were to guess its pricing, we would put our money at around Rs 20,000 mark.
