Nextbit Robin finally launching in India on May 25

Nextbit India will finally launch the Nextbit Robin, a unique Android smartphone based on “cloud first” on May 25, 2016. The company had finally received the regulatory approval from the government this month and started shipping the devices to the Kickstarter backers in India. The launch event will take place in Delhi and Tom Moss, CEO and Co-Founder of Nextbit along with Shankar Parasaram, Head of India Operations will grace the event.

Nextbit Robin Specifications

The Nextbit Robin features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display, that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor along with Adreno 418 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory along with another 100 GB of cloud storage. The device runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

Since it is a “cloud first” phone, it will allow the users to quickly upload apps, photos and other contents. If you do not use certain apps and photos, it will automatically get cleared. An app that has been offloaded from the phone will show a grayed-icon on the phone. The basic idea of Nextbit is that users using Robin should never run out off space. The smartphone will automatically backup data when connected to a WiFi network.

The Robin comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is 7 mm thick and comes with a 3.5mm audio jack. It has the latest USB Type-C port, comes with a fingerprint sensor and dual front-facing stereo speakers as well.

The Robin includes 4G LTE (Cat 4), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,680 mAh battery under the hood with Quick Charge 2.0 support.

The Nextbit Robin will be available in mint color in India. Ideally, it should be priced below Rs 20,000, however we will get to know the exact pricing and availability on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
