Nextbit Robin, a unique Android smartphone based on “cloud first” has been announced. The most differentiating factor of this phone is its 100 GB of free cloud storage. Check out the other specifications of the device.
Nextbit Robin Specifications
The Nextbit Robin features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor along with Adreno 418 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory along with another 100 GB of cloud storage. The device runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.
Since it is a “cloud first” phone, it will allow the users to quickly upload apps, photos and other contents. If you do not use certain apps and photos, it will automatically get cleared. An app that has been offloaded from the phone will show a grayed-icon on the phone. The basic idea of NextBit is that users using Robin should never run out off space. The smartphone will automatically backup data when connected to a WiFi network.
The Robin comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with phase detection and dual-tone LED flash. It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is 7 mm thick and comes with a 3.5mm audio jack. It has the latest USB Type C port, comes with a fingerprint scanner and dual front-facing stereo speakers as well.
The Robin includes 4G LTE (Cat 4), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone in a 2,680 mAh battery under the hood with quick charging feature.
The Nextbit Robin is available in Mint and Midnight colour variants. It is selling via a Kickstarter campaign. It has started today and will last for the next 30 days. Consumers who back the first 1,000 units will get it for US $299 (INR Rs 19,800 approximately) and post that the price will be US $349 (INR Rs 23,100 approximately). The company plans to set its retail price at US $399 (INR Rs 26,400 approximately).
The first batch of the smartphone from Nextbit will start shipping in January 2016 whereas the next batch will ship in February. It will be manufactured by Foxconn.
