New Android One made by Lava powered by Google is expected to launch on July 27

Finally, there is an exact date for the launch of the new Android One made by Lava, powered by Google. It will be launching on July 27, 2015 at an event in Delhi in India.

FoneArena has received an invite from Lava about an event on July 27. The invite reads “Witness the Power of the one that will never grow old, will respect your privacy, will keep you powered longer and will help you create memories.”

This is going to be the launch of the new Lava Android One smartphone, which was supposedly to be announced on July 14 but was postponed. According to the rumours, it will feature a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU. It will come with 2GB of RAM and have 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded via microSD card. It will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. On the camera front, it will come with a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8 megapixel front-facing camera. It will have 4G LTE connectivity along with the usual WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and more. It is expected to be priced around Rs 12,000.

According to Mr. Sachin Naik, a designer at XOLO, which is a sub-brand of Lava itself said, “Also its our 1st Android One design completely in-house including ID.” When the first batch of Android One smartphones came out in September last year, it was totally conceptualised by Google. There was no involvement of the Indian OEMs in case of design and development. But, the second gen Android One has been manufactured in collaboration with Lava and MediaTek on both the hardware and software side. The new smartphone will have improved specifications (mid-range) and also an optimized OS (Android Lollipop) with applications and services co-developed by Google and Lava.

Last year, three Android One smartphones launched in India – Micromax Canvas A1Karbonn Sparkle VSpice Dream UNO. These smartphones were recently updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
