Motorola Moto X Play now selling in Canada, price starts at $300

Motorola announced the Moto X Play at the end of July along with a few other devices. It is currently on pre-order in UK and will go on sale on August 25. Now, it is being sold in Canada as well.


The Motorola Moto X Play is now available in Canada since Friday (August 21). It is selling on five different Canadian carriers. The lowest price (off-contract) is being offered by Videotron and SaskTel – 399.95 Canadian dollars (US $303 approximately). It is also available on Koodo (410 CAD), Telus (420 CAD) and Bell (449.99 CAD). However, if you wish to buy it on a 2 year contract, the Moto X Play starts at 50 CAD (US $38) along with the usual monthly instalments.


Motorola Moto X Play Specifications

The Motorola Moto X Play features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (4 x 1.1 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.7 Cortex A53) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 405 GPU. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 / 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. It comes with Moto Display, Moto Voice, Moto Assist and Moto Actions features on top of stock Android, to enhance the experience.

The smartphone rocks a 21 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture. It can shoot 1080p Full HD videos. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It has a water-repellent coating but isn’t water-resistant like the new Moto G 3rd Gen. It is 8.9 – 10.9 mm (curve) thick and weighs 169 grams.

On the connectivity front, it comes with 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It packs in a 3,630 mAh battery under the hood, which promises up to 48 hours of battery life with mixed usage. It supports quick charging and comes bundled with the Motorola TurboPower 25 Charger.

The Motorola Moto X Play is available in Black and White colour variants and also supports replaceable flip shells and Moto Maker customization.
