Motorola Moto 360 2nd Gen and Moto 360 Sports Edition announced at IFA 2015

Motorola has now officially announced the new Moto 360 smartwatches powered by Android Wear at IFA 2015. The watch comes in four different variants – two different sizes for men, one specially made for women and a Sports Edition that will come later this year.


Motorola Moto 360 Specifications and Features

The Motorola Moto 360 comes in two different display sizes – a 1.56-inch (360 x 230 pixels) display with a pixel density of 233 ppi, enclosed in a 46 mm body and a 1.37-inch (360 x 225 pixels) with a pixel density of 263 ppi, enclosed in a 42 mm body. Both these variants are 11.5 mm thick, exactly similar to last year’s model. The bigger variant has a 400 mAh battery and the smaller one comes with a 300 mAh battery. Motorola is promising up to two days of usage.

The Moto 360 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage that is not expandable. It runs on Android Wear OS that is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. Now, Android smartwatches also work with iPhones.

The Motorola Moto 360 2nd Gen comes with a heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor (lower part of the display, “flat tire” design) and comes with dual microphones. It is IP67 certified and that makes with water-resistant as well. It has Bluetooth and WiFi but does not come with NFC or a built-in speaker.

Motorola Moto 360 Sports Edition

The Sports Edition is certainly aimed at fitness enthusiasts and professional athletes. It features an ‘AnyLight hybrid display’ that will supposedly offer better legibility in bring sunlight. It also has a waterproof silicon body and comes with a built-in GPS to track distance, speed and more, that is missing in the normal variant. It will be launching ‘later this year’.

All the three variants of the new Moto 360 are now on pre-order from their official website, Google Play and It will also be available at Best Buy, Verizon and Nordstrom by late September. It is also coming to other countries such as North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia soon. The pricing starts at $299.99 and goes up to $429.99 with respect to the various designs.

Huawei Watch was also announced at IFA and is now on pre-order.
