Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with i7 processor with 128GB storage unveiled at USD 1299

Microsoft has launched a variant of the Surface Pro 3 which comes with Core i7 processor and 128 GB of storage. Lets checkout the specifications of the hybrid tablet.


Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Specifications

The Microsoft Surface 3 features a 12-inch (2160 x 1440 pixels) 3:2 ClearType Full HD 10-point multi-touch display with Pen input. It is powered by 4th Gen Core i7 processor. It comes with 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and has 128 GB of internal memory.

On the camera front, the Pro 3 comes with a 5 megapixel front and rear cameras for selfies and video calling. Both the cameras can record Full HD 1080p videos. The Surface Pro 3 runs on Windows 8.1 Pro OS and will be upgradable to Windows 10 for free, when it comes out. It weighs 798 grams and is 9.14 mm thick. It has stereo speakers with Dolby audio enhanced sound. It also has TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chip for enterprise security.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 comes with WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Full USB 3.0, Mini Display port, Micro USB charging port as connectivity options. Microsoft promises battery life of up to 9 hours of web browsing. It comes with the Surface Pen out of the box. Pre-installed apps include Flipboard, Skype WiFi, Skype, OneNote MX, Solitaire, Mahjong, Sudoku/Microsoft Number Puzzle, Fresh Paint.

Microsoft is planning to introduce new LTE compatible Surface Pro 3 variants in Germany and UK. However, this new variant is a steal for US $1299, unless you can wait for the Surface Pro 4.

      $1300 was the same price as the original iMac back in the day. Not unusual for an all-in-one computer the size of a tablet. It’s the same price as an entry level MacBook with a weaker dual-core Intel Core M processor.
