Microsoft Lumia 550 officially announced, price starts at USD 139

Microsoft Lumia 550 has been officially announced at an event in New York today. It is the latest budget smartphone in the Lumia series unlike the flagship devices – the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Lets go through the specifications of the phone.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 features a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720) HD OLED display that is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor. It comes with 1 GB of RAM and has 8 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 200 GB via microSD card. It runs on Windows 10 out of the box.

The Lumia 550 rocks a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.4 aperture and auto-focus. It shoots videos at 720p. On the front, it has a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is 9.9 mm thick and weighs 141.9 grams. It also comes with a Dual SIM variant (region dependent), has a 3.5 mm audio jack and FM radio.

On the connectivity front, the Lumia 550 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS/aGPS. It packs in a 2,100 mAh removable battery under the hood.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 and Lumia 550 Dual SIM is available in White and Black color variants and price starts at US $139 (INR Rs 9,064 approximately). It goes on sale in select European markets starting this December 2015.
