Google today officially unveiled Android One, which is an initiative to provide timely automatic updates to low-end devices priced around $100. We have already seen Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Android One Dream Uno and lets now look at the new Micromax Canvas A1 smartphone powered by Android One launched at the event today. The Micromax Canvas A1, the first Android One smartphone by Micromax features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) IPS display which is powered by 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6586 quad-core processor with Mali-400 GPU. It runs on the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The device comes with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage which can be expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.
The Micromax Canvas A1 has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and occasional video calling. The smartphone is 10.4 mm in thickness and has standard connectivity options like 3G HSPA+. WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio. The Canvas A1 packs in a 1700 mAh removable battery under the hood. It is a dual SIM phone. All Android One phones have been promised 2 years of software updates and will be one of the first few phones to receive Android L update.
The Micromax Canvas A1 comes in Black and White colour variants and has been priced at Rs 6,499. It will be exclusively available on Amazon. It comes with 200 MB free data from Airtel for 6 months.
