Micromax Canvas 5 smartphone launched in India for Rs 11999

Micromax Canvas 5 has been officially launched in India today at an event in Delhi. It is the latest flagship smartphone from Micromax Informatics. Lets check out the specifications of the device.


Micromax Canvas 5 Specifications

The Micromax Canvas 5 features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS fully laminated display with 2.5D arc glass, which is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 64-bit processor along with 450 MHz Mali-T720 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box and will be upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, according to the company. The software includes Video Pop-Out feature and smart awake gestures. It has a metal frame around the body with leather-like back panel.

The Canvas 5 comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, Samsung 3M2 sensor and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). On the front, it has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with selfie flash for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 8.5 mm thick and weighs 143 grams. It supports Dual SIM (micro) with 4G on one and 2G on another.

The Canvas 5 includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,900 mAh battery under the hood and the phone uses Content Adaptive Backlight Control (CABC) to manage power and adjust the image being displayed to look brighter. It also promises up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 275 hours of battery life on standby mode.


The Micromax Canvas 5 is available in Tan Brown and Space Grey color variants and has been priced at Rs 11,999 in India. It goes on sale in stores across the country starting today. Micromax Informatics has tied up with Bajaj Finance to offer 12 month EMI scheme, where customers will have to pay four advance EMIs at the time of the purchase. Airtel consumers get double data offer for 3 months and there is also a 7 day door step service policy. The company’s most premium offering in India is the Canvas Sliver 5.
