Mi India promises to launch Xiaomi Mi 5 by April 2016

During the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 launch event in New Delhi today, Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi Global has confirmed that they will bring the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5 to India next month (April 2016). However, the company did not announce any exact date.

Mi India had been accused of only launching outdated products by their Mi Fans and technology enthusiasts in general. Today, Hugo Barra had acknowledged that and has promised the Indian audience that they are doing everything they can to bring in new Xiaomi products in India as quickly as possible. Hence, the promise of launching Mi 5 in India as early as next month. However, we should take the announcement with a pinch of salt since China has seen crazy demands for the flagship smartphone already. According to reports, Xiaomi had received around 17 million registrations for the first flash sale itself that took place on March 1. The Mi 5 Pro (4GB RAM + 128GB ROM + Ceramic body) has not gone on sale in China yet and the company has not announced an exact date of sale as well. Hence, we cannot expect Mi India to bring the higher end variants of Mi 5 initially, if at all they manage to launch it next month.

Mi India has also unveiled the Mi Bluetooth speaker for Rs 1999 which will go on sale by last week of March. Also, the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank is coming to India soon and was given away to all the attendees at the event today. However, the pricing of the power bank has not been announced yet.
