Xiaomi officially launched the Mi 5 in India last month and it went on its pilot flash sale on April 6, along with the Mi 20000mAh Power Bank. Now, Xiaomi has announced that both these devices will go on open sale in India on May 4, 2016 at 2PM exclusively on mi.com. Also, both the variants of the Redmi Note 3 will be available once again, after going on open sale last week. Hopefully, Xiaomi will have enough stocks to please their customers this time!
Xiaomi Mi 5 Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LCD display with 2.5D curved protection. It has a brightness of 600 nits and comes with a NTSC color gamut of 95%. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs in 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 32 GB of internal storage (UFS 2.0), which cannot be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow OS. It comes with a 3D glass body with strong glass on the back side.
The Mi 5 rock a 16 megapixel rear primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), 4-axis OIS. It can shoot 4K videos, comes with DTI pixel isolation technology and Spectra image processing. It comes with a 4 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. It support Dual SIM (nano), comes with a fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. It is 7.25 mm thick, weighs 129 grams for the glass variant and 139 grams for the ceramic variant.
On the connectivity front, the Mi 5 comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and USB OTG. The smartphone packs in a 3,000 mAh built-in non-removable battery under the hood that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. A 5 minute quick charge will offer up to 2.5 hours of talk time.
Features of Xiaomi Mi 20000mAh Power Bank
The Mi 20000mAh Power Bank has been designed by Texas Instruments that comes with nine layers of circuit protection. All the other Mi power banks came with an aluminium body but this one is made up of ABS plastic that offers a better grip and prevents scratches, according to Xiaomi. As it has 20000mAh capacity, it comes with more batteries as well, however, it just weighs 338 grams and that is lighter than the 350 gram 16000mAh Mi Power Bank. This is mainly due to the ABS plastic body in place of aluminium.
Coming to the buttons on the power bank, the power button is on the side, microUSB slot for charging the power bank and two standard USB slots for output that will let the users charge two devices simultaneously at the bottom, along with the four LED battery indicators. It comes with 5.1V / 3.6A output, which is similar to the 16000mAh power bank. The batteries are made by LG or Panasonic and it promises up to 93% conversion rate and a minimum of 12700mAh output. The device also comes with fast charging (5V/2A, 9V/2A and 12V/1.5A) and it takes only 3 hours to charge the power bank up to 11000mAh.
