Xiaomi’s flagship phone, the Mi 4 16 GB which was announced couple of weeks back will go on sale tomorrow on Flipkart. Today, the company announced Mi 4 64 GB variant will be available from February 24 which has been priced at Rs 23,999.
When Xiaomi announced the Mi 4 in India, the company faced a lot of criticism. It was mainly due to the pricing of the phone which is set at Rs 19,999 and capacity which is just 16 GB. Also, there is no 4G LTE as well as colour choices other than White. Although, Xiaomi has received above 2,60,000 registrations for the pilot sale of Mi 4 16 GB as mentioned on February 4. So we would assume around 3,00,000 people have registered for tomorrow’s sale in spite of the disappointment regarding the pricing and lower capacity.
Today, OnePlus announced that the ‘One’ will be available tomorrow without any invite on Amazon India from 10am. There will be limited stocks. This has been done to unsettle the Mi 4 which will go on sale at 2pm on Flipkart. So, to counter OnePlus’ move, Xiaomi announced the pricing and availability of the Mi 4 64 GB variant. Now, people who were confused between the OPO and Mi 4, has got the option 64 GB memory, which would help in the buying decision.
In terms of pricing and hardware, the OnePlus One wins marginally as it has been priced at Rs 21,999 which is Rs 2,000 cheaper than the Mi 4 64 GB and it also comes with 4G LTE. Although, the consumer would factor in the software experience while making the decision between the two devices. We think both the devices are great in this price range and nothing else comes close.
