Meizu PRO 5 with 4GB RAM, USB Type-C, 5.7-inch display now officially announced

Meizu has announced a brand new flagship device at an event in China today. It is the Meizu PRO 5 that aims to compete with the best flagship devices around the world. Lets dive into the specifications of this latest flagship phablet from Meizu.


Meizu PRO 5 Specifications

The Meizu PRO 5 features a 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has a 10000:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 (Quad 2.1 GHz + Quad 1.5GHz) 64-bit processor along with Mali T760 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes in 16 GB internal memory or 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage that can also be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Flyme OS 5.0 out of the box based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Meizu PRO 5 comes with a 21.6 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 6P lens, Laser Auto Focus, Sony IMX230 Exmor RS BSI sensor and PDAF. It records 4K videos. On the front, it has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with OmniVision OV5670 sensor and f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The phablet is 7.5 mm thick and weighs just 166 grams. It has a full metal body with magnesium alloy frame along with mBack touch-sensitive home button, which offers different functions based on press. Also, comes with mTouch 2.1 fingerprint recognition technology for payments using mPay. It also has ES9018 Audio DAC, Texas Instruments OPA1612 operational amplifier and comes with a passive filter for crystal clear audio.

The Meizu PRO 5 includes 4G LTE (TD-LTE/FDD-LTE), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, VoLTE and USB 3.0 Type-C (reversible) as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,050 mAh battery under the hood that comes with mCharge 2.0 technology. Thus, 0 to 65% charge is completed within 30 minutes.


The Meizu PRO 5 is available in Grey, Silver, Silver Black and Golden color variants in China. It has been priced at CNY 2799 (US $439 / INR Rs 28,935 approximately) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant and CNY 3099 (US $485 / INR Rs 32,000 approximately) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM model. It can be pre-ordered in China starting today and goes on sale from October 12. The flagship phablet is expected to make its way into India as well in October to get a hold on the festive season.

Meizu has recently launched the MX5 in India priced at Rs 19,999.
