The media invite reads ‘Brand Launch’ which points to the MX5, their flagship device launched in China in June. Also, the company might launch the M2 as both the devices are listed on the official Indian website. Lets go through the specifications of both these devices.
Meizu MX5 Specifications
The Meizu MX5 features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has 100% increase in NTSC colour gamut, 10000:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of up to 500 nits. It is powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) 64-bit processor along with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes in 16, 32 and 64 GB storage variants. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Flyme OS 4.5 on top of it.
The Meizu MX5 comes with a 20.7 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and 6P lens, Laser Auto Focus, Sony IMX220 Exmor RS BSI sensor. It records 4K videos. On the front, it has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The phablet is 7.6 mm thick and weighs just 149 grams. It has a full metal body with magnesium alloy frame along with mBack touch-sensitive home button, which offers different functions based on press. Also, comes with mTouch 2.0 fingerprint recognition technology for payments using mPay.
The Meizu MX5 includes 4G LTE (TD-LTE/ LTE-FDD), 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (dual band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,150 mAh battery under the hood.
Meizu m2 Specifications
The Meizu m2 features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS fully laminated display, which is protected by AGC Dragontrail glass. It has a pixel density of 296 ppi. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6753 64-bit processor along with Mali T720 GPU. It has 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and comes with 16 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Flyme 4.5 OS on top of it.
The m2 comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 5P lenses. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 4P lenses for selfies and video calling. It also has FotoNotion 2.0 smart selfie enhancement and Face AE face light boost. The smartphone is 8.7 mm thick and weighs just 131 grams. It has Hybrid Dual SIM where the second SIM slot (nano) can be used to insert microSD card.
The m2 includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS and GLONASS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,500 mAh battery under the hood.
The Meizu MX5 and m2 are expected to be priced around Rs 18,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively in India. We will have more information on August 26. So stay tuned.
