Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 “selfie smartphones” announced by Microsoft at IFA 2014

Microsoft today announced Lumia 830, their version of the “affordable flagship smartphone.” It doesn’t have a very good front camera, so they have launched smartphones which are just dedicated for your selfie requirements. Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 are now official “selfie smartphones” from Microsoft.


The new Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735 has a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) ClearBlack OLED display. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor. It comes with 1 GB of RAM and has 16 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 128 GB by adding a microSD card.

The Lumia 735 and 730 has a 5 megapixel front camera with 24 mm focal length. It is Nokia’s first smartphone with a 5 megapixel camera and hence called a ‘selfie smartphone.’ It also shoots 720p videos. Both the Lumias will come with new Lumia Selfie app. It will also be available for other Lumia devices from the Windows Phone Store today. It also comes with just a 6.7 megapixel rear camera with AutoFocus and LED flash which can record 1080p video.


On the connectivity options, it has 4G LTE (Lumia 735 only) /3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS. It packs in a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood. Only Lumia 730 has Dual SIM whereas 735 is a Single SIM variant.

Lumia 730 and 735 runs on Windows 8.1 with Lumia Denim update on top of it. The phones also come with a three-month Skype Unlimited World subscription in selected markets.

Both Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735 will be available in bright green, bright orange, dark grey and white colour options. The Lumia 735 with 4G LTE is expected to be priced at 219 Euros ( $288/ Rs 17,400 approx) and the Lumia 730 Dual SIM with 3G will be available for 199 Euros ($260/ Rs 15,800). They are expected to start shipping in September itself.
