LG Watch Urbane is the latest smartwatch powered by Android Wear. This is LG’s first luxury smartwatch which comes with a metal build. The luxury watch should take on the upcoming Apple Watch which is all set to launch in April, 2015.
LG’s last smartwatch was the LG G Watch R which is one of the best looking smartwatches powered by Android Wear. It successfully took on the Motorola Moto 360. Now, the company has announced the LG Watch Urbane which has a more formal look along with a thinner profile which makes it a luxury timepiece. The watch has a stainless steel body with stitched natural leather strap which can be replaced with any 22 mm wide band.
It was reported 720,000 Android Wear smartwatches were shipped last year and with second generation devices coming to market in 2015, the number will certainly double if not more. Also, Google updated Android Wear to version 5.0.2 recently.
LG Watch Urbane Specifications
The LG Watch Urbane has a 1.3-inch (320 x 320) P-OLED display with 245 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The smartwatch comes with 512 MB of LPDDR2 RAM and it has 4 GB of internal storage (eMMC). Its dimensions are 45.5 x 52.2 x 10.9 mm.
The LG Watch Urbane is dust and water-resistant (IP67) as well and it can stay in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes. The smartwatch rocks a 410 mAh battery. It runs on Android Wear 5.0.2 OS and is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above.
The LG Watch Urbane comes with 9-axis (Gyro/Accelerometer/Compass) sensor, Barometer and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to measure heartbeats. The smartwatch will be available in polished silver and gold finish variants. It will be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in March, 2015.
