LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition smartwatch has been cancelled

LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition was officially announced back in October and the company had revealed their plan of rolling out the smartwatch globally couple of weeks ago. However, LG has announced that they have cancelled the product itself citing an unspecified hardware issue that affects day-to-day functionality.

The world’s first Android Wear smartwatch that supports LTE – the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition was even sent out to many publications as review units. On this matter, the company said :

“We understand that you are currently reviewing our latest smartwatch; however, late in the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, our engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device. After further investigation, the decision was made to cancel the rollout of the Urbane 2nd Edition LTE due to the complicated nature of the issue.

Whether the device will be available in the future will be decided at a later time. For now, our top priority is to ensure that only products that meet our very specific quality standards are available for purchase.”

So, we still do not have a smartwatch running on Android Wear that supports LTE yet. Lets see if LG launches a new smartwatch sometime later or not.
