LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition to globally roll out starting this November

LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition was announced back in October as the world’s first Android Wear smartwatch that supports LTE. Today, LG has announced that the watch will start rolling out globally starting this November.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition has a 1.38-inch (480 x 480 pixels) P-OLED display that comes with a pixel density of 348 ppi and also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The body is made up of hairline-etched stainless steel 316L and hypoallergenic TPSiV elastomer band. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The smartwatch comes with 769 MB of LPDDR3 RAM and has 4 GB of eMMC (internal) storage. Its dimensions are 44.5 x 14.2 mm.

The smartwatch has three buttons of the right side that offer quick access to shortcut settings like contacts, LG Health and apps list. By pressing the crown button, we can enable the Ambient mode. The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is dust and water-resistant (IP67) as well and it can stay in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes at a maximum depth of 1m. The smartwatch rocks a 570 mAh battery that also has a power saving mode to extend the battery life. It runs on Android Wear OS that is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above and now also works with iOS. However, LG says that cellular enabled features will vary across Android and iOS.


The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition comes with 9-axis (Gyro/Accelerometer/Compass) sensor, Barometer and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to measure heart rate. The smartwatch comes with 16 watch faces and fitness related features such as workout tips, stress level monitoring, heart rate tracking and more. It has built-in Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi, 4G LTE and 3G connectivity.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is available in Space Black, Opal Blue, Luxe White and Signature Brown color variants. It will go on sale in USA and Korea starting this month and that will be followed by other markets such as Europe, CIS, Asia and the Middle East in the coming months. The pricing has not been announced yet and will be revealed at the time of local availability.
