LG G5 was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last week. LG has now revealed that the smartphone will be launched in India in the next quarter (Q2 2016), soon after it goes on sale in April globally. The flagship phone from LG packs in a hardware expansion slot along with dual rear cameras and always-on Quad HD display. Lets check out the specifications and features of the smartphone.
LG G5 Specifications
The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD always-on display along with 3D Arc Glass. The always-on display will let users check the time, battery status, and notifications without waking up the phone. The display’s backlight only illuminates one small part of the overall display, so only 0.8% of the phone’s battery drains in an hour, according to LG.
It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, that can be expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card. The flagship smartphone runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with the latest LG UX on top of it.
The G5 sports a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Optical Image stabilization (OIS) 2.0, Laser Auto Focus, manual mode and support for 4K video recording. It also comes with a 8 megapixel secondary rear camera with 135-degree wide-angle lens. On the front, there is a 8 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 7.7~8.6 mm thick and weighs 159 grams. It comes with a fingerprint sensor located below the dual rear camera setup. LG has also unveiled a hardware expansion modules named CAM Plus and Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play.
The LG G5 includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C and GPS as connectivity options. It packs in a 2,800 mAh removable battery under the hood that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The LG G5 is available in Titan, Gold, Pink and Silver color variants and will be rolled out globally starting from April along with the Friends companion devices.
