LG G Watch R announced; competitor for Moto 360

As the world awaits for the Moto 360, the only Android Wear smartwatch to sport circular design, LG started teasing the LG G watch R making it the 2nd Android Wear smartwatch to have the circular design.


LG has finally announced the LG G Watch R after revealing yet another teaser yesterday. It is now official and it is also the world’s first watch-style wearable device to feature a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display that utilizes 100 percent of its watch face.

The LG G Watch R has a 1.3-inch (320 x 320) P-OLED Display. It also sports a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to measure heartbeats, has durable stainless steel frame. The smartwatch also has interchangeable 22 mm calf skin leather strap.


The G Watch R comes with a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC with 512 MB of RAM. It has 4 GB of internal storage. It is dust and water resistant (IP67) as well and it can stay in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes. The smartwatch rocks a 410 mAh battery. It runs on Android Wear OS and is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above.

The LG G Watch R comes in black variant and would go on sale in key markets starting from Q4 2014. The pricing has not been announced yet, maybe they are awaiting Moto 360’s price. The smartwatch would be shown off at IFA 2014 next week.
