LG has officially introduced an active lifestyle camera named LG Action CAM, that has support for live streaming over 4G. It is the first action camera from the company will be available globally, comes with built-in LTE connectivity, that will allow the users to stream directly to sites like YouTube Live without the need of a smartphone.
Also, the Action CAM will offer remote access functionality via 3G and LTE, which will enable the device to be used as a CCTV camera for home monitoring or as an automobile dash camera as well. The users can download recorded images and videos on their paired smartphones to view them later.
Key Features of LG Action CAM
The LG Action CAM features a 1/2.3-inch 12.3 megapixel camera, which has 1.55 x 1.55 µm pixels. It records Ultra HD (4K) video at 30 fps, Full HD at 60 fps and HD at 120 fps. In case of live video streaming, you can only stream HD videos at 30 fps. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and has 4 GB of ROM (OS only), which can be expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card.
It is IP67 certified, hence it is completely dust proof and can be immersed in up to one meter of water (up to 30 minutes). The company will also launch a completely waterproof case in the third quarter, which will enable the users to shoot underwater. It is 77.9 mm thick and weighs 95 grams only.
The Action CAM has LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, USB Type-C 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1, Accelerometer and GPS as connectivity options. It packs in a 1,400 mAh battery under the hood, that promises an industry-leading Full HD recording time of up to 4 hours.
The LG Action CAM will be available in Light Gray color in South Korea starting next month (June) and will later be launched in key markets globally including North America and Europe. The pricing has not been announced yet, LG will announce it along with other specifications and carrier details during the time of local launch.
