Letv Le 1s receives more than 11 million pre-orders in one week

Letv Le 1s was officially announced on October 27 in China. It is an affordable phablet priced at CNY 1099 (US $173 / INR Rs 11,245 approximately). According to the company, the bill of materials (BOM) adds up to CNY 1310, so they are selling the device at a loss. Letv has revealed that they have made business worth US $2 Billion in one week after the launch event.


Letv has received more than 11 million pre-orders for the Le 1s phablet that made them a staggering CNY 12.1 Billion (US $1.91 Billion). The device has gone on sale in China starting today. The company has also received 1128 bookings for their new Le uMax120 3D 4K TV in just 48 hours. The TV is priced at CNY 499,900 (US $78,912 / INR Rs 51,90,031 approximately) and the pre-orders have made them another CNY 500 million (US $79 million).

Letv also plans to set up shop in India by entering the market by early 2016. They will launch their devices ranging from smartphones to TVs along with content based Eco User Interface.

In an official statement, Jia Yueting, Founder of Letv, said:

“Sales target for uMax120 is 1 billion Yuan. However, the market reaction has outperformed expectations with sales of over 500 million Yuan in the 48 hours following the product’s launch. While initial market statistics show that the capacity in China for TVs over a 100 inches is only around 200 units, the uMax120 sales have exceeded the country’s market capacity. Among the 1128 preordered uMax120 customers, 10% are business clients, 65% are from apartment owners, while the remainder was pre-ordered by villa dwellers.”


Letv Le 1s Specifications

The Letv Le 1s sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) in-cell display with 500 nits brightness. It is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) 64-bit processor with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It comes with 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB of internal memory (eMMC 5.0) which is not expandable via microSD card slot. It runs on EUI 5.5 OS based on Android Lollipop.

On the camera front, the Le 1s has a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, ISOCELL sensor, PDAF and f/2.0 aperture. It shoots 4K videos at 30 fps and 720p videos (slo-mo) at 120 fps. It has 5 megapixel front-facing camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens and Samsung S5K5E2 sensor for selfies and video calling. It has dual SIM (nano + micro) support, 3.5 mm audio jack, has Dolby audio and supports Dirac HD audio technology. It is 7.5 mm thick and weighs 169 grams. It has a fingerprint scanner at the back below the rear camera.

The Letv Le 1s comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 quirk APT-X, GPS, MHL 2.0 and USB 2.0 Type C as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood. According to the company, if you charge it using a 24W charger for 5 minutes, then you can make voice calls for 3.5 hours.
