Lenovo, who recently completed the acquisition of Motorola, has announced that the company is all set to launch new 4G LTE smartphone specifically for India which will be priced very aggressively. These 4G LTE enabled smartphone will be unveiled at CES 2015 and launch in India by mid or end of January.
The new 4G LTE enabled smartphone by Lenovo will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. Other specifications are not yet available but the company has recently unveiled the Lenovo K3 smartphone with the same processor in China, priced at 599 Yuan (USD 96/ INR 6100 approximately).
So the new smartphone could have a 5-inch HD display, powered by Snapdragon 410 SoC, Android 4.4 KitKat (upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop in future), 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with expandable memory. It will have dual SIM capabilities besides being 4G LTE enabled. It will also have a 2,300 mAh battery under the hood. So, the Lenovo K3 might be launched in a different name for the Indian market or it might be a completely different smartphone all together.
Indian smartphone market will be flooded with 4G LTE enabled smartphones as Motorola and HTC are also planning to bring new devices in 2015. There are already quite a lot of budget 4G LTE enabled smartphones in India which includes the YU Yureka, Redmi Note 4G and Lumia 638. All these devices have 2,300 MHz TDD-LTE (Band 40) and upcoming 1,800 MHz FDD-LTE (Band 3) for India. The Indian 4G LTE has not yet taken off and has limited presence in few states only. With the upcoming Reliance Jio 4G services, these smartphones will come in handy and will be in great demand.
Lenovo has confirmed that its smartphone will be priced lower than the Redmi Note 4G and the YU Yureka but we do not know the exact price nor the launch date.
