Lava A79 has been officially launched in India today. It is the latest smartphone from Lava International in the ‘A’ series that looks similar to the Nexus 6P (rear camera section). Lets check out the specifications, features and pricing of the device.

The Lava A79 features a 5.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA IPS display, that is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It has 1 GB of RAM and comes with 8 GB of internal memory, which can also be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box and might be upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the near future. It comes with ‘Smart Screenshot’ feature which transforms scrolling pages from WhatsApp chats, Facebook, browsers into a single image, that can be shared across social media platforms easily.

The A79 comes with a 5 megapixel rear primary camera with LED flash. On the front, there is a 2 megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for selfies and video calling. The smartphone supports Dual SIM with dual standby mode, comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio. It is 9.2 mm thick and weighs 134 grams.

The A79 includes 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood.

The Lava A79 is available in Gold and Grey color variants for Rs 5,699 (MRP) in India. The company had recently launched Lava A89 with VoLTE support for Rs 5,999 in the country.
