Apple announces iPhone 7 and 7 Plus India pricing ahead of October 7 launch

Apple Inc. had announced their new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco on September 7. It will go on sale starting from September 16 in more than 25 countries including USA and is coming to India on October 7. We already knew that it would start at Rs 60,000 for the base variant (32GB) of the iPhone 7 but today pricing for all the variants were revealed.

The new iPhone 7 32GB is priced at Rs 60,000, 128GB at Rs 70,000 and 256GB at Rs 80,000 whereas the bigger iPhone 7 Plus with dual camera system starts at Rs 72,000 for the base 32GB variant. As you go higher, you have to add in Rs 10,000 more, so Rs 82,000 for 128GB and Rs 92,000 for 256GB model.

Apple India has also slashed the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE pricing in India with updated storage variants. Now, the iPhone 6s comes in 32GB for Rs 50,000 and 128GB for Rs 60,000 whereas the iPhone 6s Plus 32GB costs Rs 60,000 and the 128GB model is priced at Rs 70,000. Both the smartphones have received up to Rs 22,000 price cut. Also, the iPhone SE 16GB is now sold for Rs 39,000 and 64GB model for Rs 44,000. All other iPhone models have been discontinued by Apple but will be sold in the country till stocks last.

Apple iPhone 7 Specifications and Features

The iPhone 7 rocks a 4.7-inch (1334×750 pixels) Retina HD LED-backlit widescreen multi-touch wide color display (P3) with IPS technology. It comes with a pixel density of 326 ppi and a contrast ratio of 1400:1. It has a maximum brightness of 625 cd/m2 with Full sRGB standard display and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on front. It has dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles and support multiple languages and characters simultaneously. There is 3D Touch, which is basically a feature that will allow the device to know the difference between a slight tap and a longer or more forceful tap on the display.

The iPhone 7 is now powered by an all new Apple A10 Fusion quad-core chip, six-core GPU along with M10 motion coprocessor that has a 64-bit architecture and it packs in 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM as well for improved performance and faster graphics. It runs on the latest iOS 10 out of the box. It is IP67 rated and hence is water and dust resistant.

The iPhone 7 is equipped with a new 12 megapixel rear iSight camera with Quad-LED True Tone flash, f/1.8 aperture, 6-element lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and digital zoom up to 5x. It comes with Live Photos with Stabilization and also has Autofocus with Focus Pixels. Now, Panorama can go up to 63 megapixel. It now records 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos at 30 fps, 1080p Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps and 720p videos at 30 fps. There is OIS for video as well Coming to Slo-mo videos, it takes 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps. Now, Time-Lapse videos come with Stabilization as well. You can also take 8 megapixel still photos while recording 4K videos. On the front, there is a new 7 megapixel front-facing selfie camera with Retina Flash for bright selfies. It comes with a f/2.2 aperture and can record 1080p Full HD videos. It is 7.1 mm thick and weighs 138 grams. There is a new home button where the fingerprint sensor is embedded. It is now pressure sensitive and comes with the new generation Taptic Engine.

There is no 3.5 mm audio jack onboard but Apple is packing in a lighting to 3.5mm adapter inside the box for free. The Apple iPhone 7 now comes with new stereo speakers that offers immersive sound that is two times louder than the iPhone 6s, with more dynamic range of sound and a higher quality speakerphone. It comes with EarPods that has lightning connector.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 7 comes with 4G LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (Apple Pay), GPS and GLONASS, VoLTE. It comes with sensors that include Touch ID, Barometer, Three-axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It has a Li-lon battery (non-removable) that gives up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G. Internet usage of up to 12 hours on 3G, up to 12 hours on LTE, up to 14 hours on WiFi. It offers up to 10 days of standby time, up to 40 hours of audio playback and up to 13 hours of HD video playback.
