Today’s Apple event was mainly iPad centric. We have had too many leaks over the past few weeks of the new iPad Mini 3 and it has been finally launched. The Cupertino company has also updated the iPad Air with a new iPad Air 2 along with the new Mac Mini and iMac 27-inch 5K display. OS X Yosemite will also be available for download later today.
The iPad Mini 3 features a 7.9-inch LED-backlit widescreen multi-touch display with IPS technology with a resolution of 2048-by-1536 pixel at 326 pixels per inch (ppi). It has fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.
The tablet is powered by an A7 chip with 64-bit architecture which is custom designed by Apple. It comes with 1 GB of RAM is also accompanied by the M7 motion coprocessor which has all the sensors, helps keep track of all the activities.
The iPad Mini 3 packs in a 5-megapixel iSight camera with Autofocus and f/2.4 aperture. It has five-elements lens like before. It has a lot of features like Hybrid IR filter, improved face detection, exposure control, Panorama, Burst mode, Tap to focus, Photo geotagging, Time mode and more.
The iSight camera can record 1080p HD videos a 30 frames per second with video image stabilization. It can also do Time-lapse video which came with iOS 8.
On the front, it has a FaceTime HD Camera which clicks 1.2-megapixel photos and has a f/2.2 aperture. It can record 720p HD videos as well as take Auto HDR photos with backside illumination.
Apple has finally incorporated the TouchID on the new iPad Mini 3 replacing the home button. But this isn’t equivalent to the capability of what the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch can do. Nonetheless, you can now unlock the iPad with just the touch of a finger and make purchases easily and securely within apps using Apple Pay.
The iPad Mini 3 comes with the latest 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi with Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology, which is two times faster than the second generation iPad Mini. The WiFi + Cellular iPad Mini 3 has now even more LTE bands and comes with expanded LTE for up to 50 percent faster cellular connections. Also, supports other fast cellular technologies around the world like DC-HSDPA, HSPA+. It has Bluetooth 4.0, Digital Compass, iBeacon microlocation and along with these it also has Assisted GPS and GLONASS on the Cellular variant.
The iPad Mini 3 has a built-in 23.8-watt-hour rechargeable lithim-polymer battery which would last up to 10 hours of surfing the web on WiFi, watching video or listening to music. While surfing the web using cellular data network, it will last up to 9 hours.

iPad Mini 3 comes in silver, space gray and the new Gold colour options. It will be launching in 29 countries and territories and customers can start ordering online beginning this friday, October 17. The iPad Mini 3 WiFi only variant’s price starts at $399 for the 16 GB, $499 for the 64 GB and $599 for the 128 GB variant. Whereas the iPad Mini 3 WiFi + Cellular variant starts at $529 for the 16 GB, $629 for the 64 GB and $729 for the 128 GB variant.
