Apple announced during the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launch event that iOS 8 would be available for download on September 17. Now, we know that India would receive it at 10:30 pm today. Catch all the new iOS 8 features reported by us.
According to a report by Redmond Pie, we know that the global roll out of iOS 8 will hit India at 10:30 PM. Users with compatible iOS devices can download it via OTA update from your device itself or you can do a fresh install from iTunes on your Mac or PC.
Before updating you devices to Apple’s new OS, we would advice you to backup your data. You can backup your data either on iTunes or iCloud. Since, iCloud comes with 5 GB of free storage, we would choose iTunes backup. Go to iTunes either on your Mac or PC, connect your iOS device via WiFi or directly, and then click ‘Back Up Now’. This would let you restore if anything goes wrong after installing iOS 8.
In case anything goes wrong with iOS 8, like battery drain, lag in older devices, compatibility with your favourite apps, etc. then it is better to keep the previous iOS version for safety. You can switch back to previous iOS version by simply searching “ipsw” files on the internet and you will get many websites hosting these files. Just choose your OS version, download the file on your computer and install it.
iOS 8 will be compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display. iPhone 4 will miss out on iOS 8 and both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus would come with iOS 8 out of the box.
Apple has recently created history by receiving more than 4 million pre-orders of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 24 hours. The new iPhones will go on sale on September 19 in USA and 9 other countries.
