After launching the most affordable smartphone with a ‘deca-core‘ processor back in October 2016, InFocus went on a long hiatus. The company was always known for churning out affordable smartphones with a combination of great hardware and looks. After some soul-searching, InFocus is back in the Indian smartphone market with the launch of the #InFocusTurbo5, which has a potential of being the best smartphone below 8000. It comes in two variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM for Rs. 6,999 and 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM for Rs. 7,999. The 4G smartphone will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India starting from July 4, 2017. So lets find out why we consider it to be a beast inside and beauty outside.
First of all, the InFocus Turbo 5 comes in two colors – Pure Gold and Mocha Gold. Both are distinctively different but the Mocha Gold variant stands out among the crowd. It has a different greyish shade which we have not seen on any other smartphone before. It feels more exclusive and classy. We would definitely suggest the consumers to pick up the Mocha Gold color but if you like Pure Gold, go for it.
Sleek Metal Body with the Right Curves
In spite being a budget smartphone and packing a massive 5000 mAh battery under its hood, the Turbo 5 features a metal body with a relatively slim profile at 9mm thickness and weighs 164 grams. This has been made possible by the sheer engineering marvel along with the inclusion of high density batteries. Also, there are very few devices among the latest Android smartphones in this price range that come with metal bodies. At the front of this VoLTE mobile, we have the 5.2-inch 2.5D curved glass IPS HD display panel, which looks stunning and makes the phone feel very premium. It is quite comfortable to hold because of its ergonomic design.
Smooth and Powerful Performance
A smartphone is supposed to perform high-intensity tasks and not just look good, right? Well, the good news is that the InFocus Turbo 5 is a beast of a performer and can be considered one of the best smartphone below 10000 as well. This 4G mobile is powered by the MT6737 quad-core processor from the house of MediaTek. The chipset is clocked at 1.25GHz. It comes in two RAM and ROM variants but we would suggest you to go for the 3GB RAM model, since a 3GB RAM mobile is better at multitasking and would be more future proof. Also, the price difference is just Rs. 1,000 between the two variants. A smartphone with 3GB RAM is more efficient in running high graphics intensive games. So, if you’re a passionate gamer, shell out Rs. 1,000 more to get the higher variant.
Connectivity on Point
This VoLTE smartphone has all the modern connectivity including 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It supports Reliance Jio network out of the box. The InFocus Turbo 5 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and would be updated to Android 8.0 O, according to the company. It is also a fingerprint smartphone as we get a fingerprint scanner located on the back side, that can unlock the phone in just 0.5 seconds. In this budget, a fingerprint mobile is very hard to spot whereas the Turbo 5 has one and that too a very reliable and secured fingerprint sensor.
Coming to the camera department, we get a 13 megapixel primary camera at the back and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera on the front. Both of them perform really well and might as well be the leader in their segment. The images captured in bright outdoor conditions have good color saturation and detailing. The camera app is easy to use as it comes with a simple UI but has a lot of useful modes.
A Beastly Battery
Lastly, the 5000 mAh battery promises a standby time of up to 34 days and talk time of 23 hours. You can even charge other devices by using your Turbo 5 smartphone as a powerbank. It will easily last for couple of days with normal usage.
Among the latest smartphones in the Indian market, the InFocus Turbo 5 really stands out in its price segment. It is a beast on the inside and beauty on the outside.
