The Huawei Watch was again showcased at IFA 2015. It was first unveiled at MWC earlier this year and we came to know about its pricing and availability of Huawei’s first Android Wear powered smartwatch. The company is finally bringing the watch to Europe.
Huawei is taking pre-orders for the Huawei Watch via the official European online store now. It can be pre-ordered in France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland but not in UK. The silver Huawei Watch with a genuine leather strap is priced at €399 for all European countries, however, if you’re in Switzerland, you will have to pay CHF 399. There are some band options available but it will ship after couple of weeks.
Huawei Watch Specifications and features
The Huawei Watch features a 1.4-inch (400 x 400 pixels) AMOLED display, that is made up of scratch-proof sapphire crystal lens. It has a pixel density of 286 ppi at a 10,000:1 high contrast ratio. The smartwatch’s casing is 42 mm in diameter and is around 11.3 mm thick. The watch is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4GB of eMMC storage that is not expandable. It runs on Android Wear OS that is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. Now, Android smartwatches also work with iPhones.
The Huawei Watch has a built-in heart rate monitor and an array of sensors including 6-Axis motion sensor and Barometer. It also has IP68 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant. It is available in gold, silver and black colour variants with stainless steel and leather band options. The pricing starts at US $349 for the stainless steel body and basic black leather strap and goes as high as $799 for the rose gold variant.
