Huawei P9 with 5.2-inch AMOLED display, 12 MP dual rear Leica cameras goes official

Huawei has officially launched two new flagship smartphones – Huawei P9 and P9 Plus at an event in London. Both of them features dual 12 megapixel rear cameras that come with Leica SUMMARIT lenses and 1.25 micron pixels, which promises brilliant image quality in low-light scenarios. Huawei P9 Specifications

The Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display which comes with 2.5 curved glass. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 955 (Quad 2.5 GHz A72 + Quad 1.8 GHz A53) 64-bit processor along with Mali T880-MP4 GPU. It has 3 / 4 GB of RAM and comes with 32 / 64 GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box with EMUI 4.1 on top of it.

The P9 rocks a 12 megapixel dual rear primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, Leica SUMMARIT lenses, f/2.2 aperture, Laser Auto Focus. It has an independent depth measurement chip and proprietary hybrid-focus technology. Manual control and RAW support are available as well. On the front, there is a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture for selfies and video calling. It comes with Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) support (depending on region), a 3.5 mm audio jack and Stereo speakers. It has a full metal body that is 6.95 mm thick and weighs 144 grams. It comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back with 3D fingerprint sensor technology and packs an infrared sensor as well.


The P9 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood that supports fast charging.

The Huawei P9 is available in Mystic Silver, Titanium Grey, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold, Rose Gold and Ceramic White and the price starts at £449 (US $635 / INR Rs 42,197 approximately) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant. It will start rolling out from April 16, 2016.

The company has also launched the Huawei P9 Plus phablet for £549 (US $776 / INR Rs 51,657 approximately).
