Huawei P8 smartphone announced, starts at 499 Euros

Huawei P8 is now official. The smartphone is the latest flagship model in Huawei’s P series. Lets have a look at the specifications of Huawei P8.


Huawei P8 Specifications

The Huawei P8 features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with 1500:1 contrast ratio and has 78.3% screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 930/935 processor with Mali-T682 MP4 GPU. It has 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and comes with 16/64 GB of internal memory which is expandable via microSD card (second SIM slot). It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Emotion UI 3.1 on top of it. The device is just 6.4 mm thick and weighs only 144 grams.

The Huawei P8 rocks a 13 megapixel rear camera with dual colour temperature LED flash, OIS, RBGW sensor and F/2.0 aperture. On the front, it has a 8-megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video calling. It has spill-resistant nano coating as well. The smartphone has a anybody aluminium build with the diamond shape highlighting the texture of the metal along with a triple-layer shark-gill design for reliability and robustness of the device, according to Huawei.


An optional 4.3-inch E-ink display cover is available which can be attached to the back of the phone. The cover supports several touch screen gestures. If you double-tap, it captures a full-length screen shot and drawing a circle on the screen will quickly capture content. The cover also has super hands-free functionality which supports hands-free speaker calls within a radius range of 2 meters.

The Huawei P8 comes with 4G LTE Cat6, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, NFC as connectivity options. It packs in a 2,680 mAh battery under the hood. It is a dual SIM enabled smartphone and comes with DSP Hi6420 + Smart PA.

The Huawei P8 will be available in Prestige Gold, Carbon Black, Mystic Champagne and Titanium Grey colour variants and has been priced at 499 Euros (US $535 / INR Rs 33,350 approximately) for the standard version (16GB). The ‘premium’ version with 64GB onboard memory will set you back by 599 Euros (US $642 / INR Rs 40,000 approximately). It is said to be launching in 30 countries in a month.
