Huawei Honor 5X with metal body and fingerprint sensor now official

Huawei Honor 5X has been now officially launched in China. It is the latest device in the Honor series that was also spotted on TENAA. Lets check out the specifications of the phablet.


Huawei Honor 5X Specifications

The Huawei Honor 5X features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display that is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) processor along with Adreno 405 GPU. It has 2 / 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with EMUI 3.1 on top of it.

The Honor 5X rocks a 13 megapixel rear primary camera with LED flash, Sony or Samsung sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 28 mm wide-angle lens. There is also a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture, 22 mm wide-angle lens and 1.4 micron pixel size for selfies and video calling. It comes with Dual SIM (micro + nano) support. It has a unibody metal build that is 8.15 mm thick and weighs 158 grams.

The Honor 5X comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, USB OTG and GPS as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood. It comes with a fingerprint scanner 2.0 that is situated below the camera on the back side and it unlocks the phone in less than 0.5 seconds, according to the company.


The Huawei Honor 5X is available in Silver and Sunset Gold color variants and has been priced at 999 CNY (US $157 / INR Rs 10,192 approximately) for the 2GB RAM variant and the 3GB variant will cost 1399 CNY (US $220 / INR Rs 14,278 approximately). It can now be ordered in China and will start shipping from November 3. There is no information on the global launch yet.

The company also launched the Huawei Honor Play 5 smartphone in China couple of weeks back.
