HTC had announced its latest flagship smartphone called the U11, successor of the U Ultra at an event in China last month. The company has launched it in India today. It boasts of an Edge Sensor for new squeeze interaction, which will let you launch the camera, send text messages, open email or you can customize it to launch any application of your choice. HTC will also let you activate advanced touch option and use a “short squeeze” as well as a “squeeze and hold” for more features. The HTC U11 has a liquid glass surface which has been crafted using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition.
HTC U11 Specifications
The HTC U11 rocks a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super LCD 5 3D glass display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 64-bit processor along with Adreno 540 GPU. It comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory (UFS 2.1), which can be expanded further up to 2TB by adding a microSD card. The device runs on HTC Sense UI based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box. In terms of AI, there is HTC Sense Companion, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
In the camera department, the HTC U11 rocks a 12 megapixel (known as HTC Ultrapixel 3) primary rear camera with dual LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1.4 µm pixels, UltraSpeed Auto Focus, multi-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It is capable of recording 4K videos with 3D Audio, Hi-Res stereo recording and Acoustic Focus along with 120fps slow motion video (1080p) as well. On the front, there is a 16 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for clicking selfies and making video calls. It is 7.9mm thick and weighs 169 grams. It supports Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD card), comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into its home button. It does not have a 3.5mm audio jack and hence you have to use the USB-C port for audio. There is HTC USonic with Active Noise Cancellation, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition. You can record 3D Audio using 4 microphones and the phone is also Hi-Res audio certified.
The HTC U11 includes 4G VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 and GPS with GLONASS as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3000mAh battery under the hood with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
The HTC U11 is available in Amazing Silver and Brilliant Black color variants. It is priced at Rs. 51,990 in India and will go on sale across the country in the last week of June via both offline and online (Amazon India) stores. Pre-orders on HTC e-store starts tomorrow (June 17), customers will get a free HTC flip-cover worth Rs. 1,999.
