HTC planning to launch budget friendly 4G smartphones in early 2015

The coming year would be a 4G LTE device specific year. Many vendors have already announced their LTE devices or are in the verge of announcing them. Most important thing these vendors are focused on the affordability of these devices. Lastly we have heard from Huawei and Motorola that they would be bringing affordable 4G devices in early 2015. This time HTC has also joined the race. According to a report by DigiTimes, Chinese vendor HTC will be bringing 4G LTE devices in Q1 2015. The report also adds that the company would ship twice as much of product as compared to this year.

HTC will start promoting entry-level smartphones and specially designated models online, at least in China and Taiwan. Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia said that HTC would introduce single SIM variant of HTC Desire 820 in Taiwan. Tong also said that sales of HTC’s RE mini camera have been strong since its launch in early December and expects sales of the RE camera to surpass 20,000 units by the end of 2014.

HTC has started using MediaTek SoCs in their smartphones long back since these SoC’s are cheap. Since MediaTek has some SoCs with built-in LTE such as MT6732 this can help HTC build affordable 4G enabled smartphones. The devices would get tough competition in Indian market by upcoming Motorola devices and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G in India.
