HTC J Butterfly HTV31 announced in Japan, might launch as HTC Butterfly 3 globally

HTC J Butterfly HTV31 has been announced in Japan in partnership with Japanese operator KDDI. The smartphone will go on sale by June in Japan and if rumours are to be believed, then it will be launched as HTC Butterfly 3 globally.

The HTC J Butterfly HTV31 sports a 5.2-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD SLCD3 display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core (2 GHz x 4 + 1.5 GHz x 4) processor with Adreno 430 GPU. The Butterfly comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card slot. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with a layer of HTC Sense UI on top.

On the camera front, the HTC J Butterfly has a 20 megapixel Duo rear camera with dual LED flash and has 13 megapixel front-facing camera for your selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 10.1 mm in thickness and weighs 162 grams.


The HTC J Butterfly comes with 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. The device has a 2,700 mAh battery under the hood and is IPX5 / IPX7 certified which makes it water and dust resistant.

The HTC J Butterfly will be available in white, red, blue colour variants in Japan from June. Pricing has not been announced yet and it is expected to be available globally as HTC Butterfly 3.
