HTC Desire 826 with Android 5.0 Lollipop announced at CES 2015

HTC Desire 826 has been announced by HTC at CES 2015 in Las Vegas after announcing the Desire 320 budget smartphone for UK and Germany. The company is also expected to showcase the HTC One M9, their latest flagship device at CES this year.

HTC Desire 826 is an updated version of the HTC Desire 820 and Desire 816 which was launched at IFA last year. Let us go through the features of the latest HTC phablet.

The HTC Desire 826 sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display which comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is powered by an Octa-core (1.5 GHz & 1.0 GHz) Snapdragon 615 processor which comes with Adreno 405 GPU. The Desire 826 comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card slot. The latest Desire smartphone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC’s Sense 6.0 custom UI on top.

On the camera front, the HTC Desire 826 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture, BSI sensor, 28 mm lens and LED flash. It shoots Full HD 1080p videos as well. It has Ultrapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and wide-angle lens for your selfies and video calling.

The phablet is 7.74 mm in thickness and weighs only 155 grams. The HTC Desire 826 comes with dual front-facing BoomSound speakers with Dolby audio. It will have both single SIM and dual SIM variants depending on the market.

The HTC Desire 826 comes with 4G LTE (Cat4), 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX and GPS as connectivity options. The phablet has a 2,600 mAh battery under the hood.

The HTC Desire 826 will be available in four different colour variants and will go on sale in China to start with and then to other Asian markets in a couple of months. The device is also listed on the Indian website, so it will be launching here as well. We do not have any information about the pricing yet.

HTC is also planning to launch budget 4G LTE smartphones in India this year. If the HTC Desire 826 is priced below Rs 20,000, it would give serious competition to other manufacturers.
