Honor 9i First Impressions: Five Outstanding Features

After launching the Honor 8 Pro back in July, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had unveiled the Honor 9i smartphone in the Indian market on October 5, 2017. It is also the first Full HD+ FullVision display with 4-cameras in the world. This is the first bezel-less phone from the house of Huawei in the mid-range segment. After pioneering the dual camera phones for the last three years, Huawei now looks forward to usher in the 4-camera technology.

The Honor 9i priced at Rs. 17,999 will go on sale in India from October 14 exclusively on Flipkart in Aurora Blue, Graphite Black and Prestige Gold colors. So, we bring you the 5 best outstanding features of the 9i after experiencing the product, which will help you make up your mind on whether to purchase this smartphone or not. Let’s get started without any further ado.

Honor 9i First Impressions and Hands On Review

First of all, the FullVision bezel-less display simply looks stunning. The phone has a beautiful unibody metal design, that is also complimented by the Aurora Blue and Graphite Black colors. It may not have the greatest screen-to-body ratio like the Xiaomi Mi MIX or Apple iPhone X but it looks very fresh and immersive. The phone is also quite slim with 7.5mm thickness and weighs just 164 grams despite of having a 5.9-inch display. Also, the symmetry between the dual-tone LED flash, dual cameras and fingerprint sensor at the back looks very clean and calm.

There is a 5.9-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels (Full HD+) and 18:9 aspect ratio on the Honor 9i. It is covered with a 2.5D curved glass as well but it is not from Corning. The display is vivid and sharp but the brightness levels could have been higher. It feels really immersive and hence you will consume a lot of high-definition content on it for sure.

The Honor 9i comes with four cameras – two on the back and two on the front. Starting with the rear cameras, we get a 16 megapixel primary camera along with a 2 megapixel secondary camera. This setup helps the phone take stunning portrait images and the normal images come out very well too. Coming to the front, we find a 13 megapixel primary camera along with a 2 megapixel secondary camera. Thus, you can now also click portrait selfies and they come out quite well too.

The Honor 9i runs on Emotion UI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The in-house EMUI provides a lot of additional features and feels very fluid and smooth now. Due to the massive bezel-less display, we get smart assistance features such as floating dock, motion control, one-handed UI and voice control. This will help you use this big phone efficiently. You can also multitask smoothly with the option of split view and use two apps simultaneously.

The 9i is powered by a Kirin 659 octa-core processor along with Mali-T830 GPU. It is an in-house chipset from the house of Huawei and thus the optimisation of hardware and software is great. We get 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. Thus, multitasking is a breeze on this phone and the UI feels very smooth during day-to-day activities. The overall performance of the phone feels very snappy.
