Google Pixel XL with QHD display, Snapdragon 821 SoC announced, starts at $769

Google has officially unveiled their new ‘Pixel series’ which consists of flagship devices ‘Made by Google’ at an event in San Francisco. They are known as Pixel and Pixel XL and are the first phones to come with built-in Google Assistant. Lets have a look at the specifications, features and pricing of the Google Pixel XL here.

Google Pixel XL Specifications

The Google Pixel XL features a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD AMOLED display, that is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and has a pixel density of 534 PPI. It is powered by a 2.15 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and comes with 32 / 128 GB of internal memory, which cannot be expanded further since it does not have a microSD card slot. The phablet runs on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat OS out of the box.

The Pixel XL rocks a 12.3 megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 1.55 µm pixel size, PDAF and LDAF. It can record 4K videos. On the front, it has a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX179 sensor, 1.4 µm pixel size for selfies and video calling. It can record Full HD 1080p videos. Photos and videos can be backed up in full resolution as Google is providing unlimited cloud storage via Google Photo. It supports Single SIM and comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. It has a full metal unibody design made up of glass and aluminium that is 8.5 mm thick and weighs 168 grams. It houses a fingerprint sensor at the back, has single bottom-firing speakers and 3 microphones.

It includes 4G with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS / GLONASS as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,450 mAh battery that supports fast charging (7 hours of usage from only 15 minutes of charging). It promises a standby time of up to 23 days, talk time up to 32 hours and up to 14 hours of video playback.

The Google Pixel XL smartphone is available in Very Silver, Quite Black and Limited Edition US only Really Blue color variants. It’s price starts at US $769 for the 32GB variant and $869 for the 128GB model. It can now be pre-ordered in the US, Australia, Canada and Germany starting today. In India, it will go on pre-order on Flipkart (online) starting from October 13. It will also be sold via Reliance Digital, Croma and other retail stores offline.
