Google Nexus 9 tablet is now official with a price tag of $399

Google has finally unveiled the much talked about Nexus 9 tablet which was made in collaboration with HTC. The much awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop also drops in today along with the latest flagship, Nexus 6 and the first device to run Android TV: Nexus Player.


The Google Nexus 9 tablet built-in collaboration with HTC features a 8.9-inch QXGA (2048 x 1536 pixels) IPS LCD with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection and supports Double tap to wake gesture.

The tablet is powered by a 64-bit 2.3 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with Keplar DX11 GPU. Nexus 9 comes with 2 GB of RAM and is available in 16 GB and 32 GB storage variants. There is no support for microSD card slot for expanding the memory. The device runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop which comes with array of changes along with the most important ‘Material Design’.


On the camera front, it has a 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera which has LED flash along with a f/2.4 aperture. The Nexus 9 has a 1.6-megapixelfront-facing camera for selfies and video calling along with a f/2.4 aperture. The tablet is 7.95 mm thick and weighs 425 gram (Wi-Fi), 436 gram (LTE).

On the connectivity front, it has standard WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, NFC as well as comes with 4G LTE and 3G/HSPA+ connectivity. The tablet packs in a 6,700 mAh battery under the hood and Google promises up to 9.5 hours while using internet on WiFi and 8.5 hours on LTE browsing. The battery would last up to 9.5 hours with video playback and up to 30 days on WiFi and LTE standby time.


The Google Nexus 9 tablet has dual front-facing speakers with HTC BoomSound™, an array of sensors ranging from GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light sensor. It has dual microphones and 3.5 mm audio jack. The device comes in Indigo Black and Lunar White colour variants and will be up for preorder on October 17 before it goes on sale on November 3. The Nexus 9 price starts off at $399 for the 16 GB and $479 for the 32GB WiFi variant. The cellular 32GB variant with LTE comes for $599.

There is no mention of Indian availability or pricing at the moment.
