Google Nexus 6P Special Edition in Gold spotted in Japan’s Google Play Store

Google announced the Huawei-made Nexus 6P at an event in San Francisco yesterday along with other devices. It is available in Frost White, Aluminium and Graphite color variants but a new Nexus 6P Special Edition in Gold has been spotted in the Japan Google Play Store.


The Google Nexus 6P Special Edition in Gold might be a Japan-only model. It is now listed on the Japanese Google Play Store. There is no information on the pricing or the availability but an interested consumer can sign up to be placed on a waiting list. Google has also announced the LG-made Nexus 5X and Google Pixel C tablet.

Google Nexus 6P Specifications

The Huawei-made Google Nexus 6P features a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD AMOLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The display has a pixel density of 518 ppi. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (Quad 1.5 GHz ARM A53 + Quad 1.8 GHz ARM A57) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 430 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes in 32 / 64 / 128 GB internal memory that cannot be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Google Now voice assistant is now always on and will work even when the screen is off.

The Nexus 6P comes with a 12.3 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.55 µm pixels, f/2.0 aperture, smart burst. It can record 4K video and also slow motion video at 240 fps. On the front, it has a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with 1.4 µm pixels for selfies and video calling. The phablet has a full metal (anodized aluminium) body that is 7.3 mm thick, weighs just 178 grams and supports a Single Nano SIM. It comes with a fingerprint sensor named as Nexus Imprint on the back that can be used for secured lock, payments made via Android Pay, wake up the phone and unlock apps as well. It recognizes a fingerprint in less than 600 milliseconds, according to Google.

The Nexus 6P includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and reversible USB Type-C port as connectivity options. The phablet packs in a 3,450 mAh battery under the hood that supports Quick Charging.
