Gionee Elife S5.1 was declared as the world’s slimmest smartphone by Guinness World Records before OPPO took the crown, after launching the OPPO R5 which is just 4.85 mm thick. Gionee Elife S5.1 has now been launched in India for Rs 18,999 and will shortly be available in India.
Gionee Elife S5.1 is the successor of the Gionee Elife S5.5 (Review). The Gionee Elife S5.1 features a 4.8-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 cover. The screen-to-body ratio is 74% because of the narrow frame of just 1.5 mm. The back cover is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3 cover much like its predecessor. The smartphone is powered by 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor with Mali 450-MP4 GPU. It has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which cannot be expanded via microSD card. The smartphone weighs only 100 grams and is 5.1 mm thick, which makes it the company’s slimmest smartphone.
On the camera front, the Gionee S5.1 comes with a 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for your selfies and video calling. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Amigo OS 2.0 on top, possible update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the near future.
The Gionee Elife S5.1 comes with 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery under the hood. The device will be available in Black, White, Blue and Pink colour variants in India which has been priced at Rs 18,999 and will go on sale around the first week of December, 2014.
